Mine Safety & Health Law Special Institute

On April 22-23, 2014, three members of our firm participated in the Mine Safety & Health Law Special Institute, sponsored by the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation and the U.S. Dept. of Labor, in Washington, D.C. John Williams moderated a presentation on "Ventilation Plan Approval and the Litigation Process," discussing the recent Mach Mining case issued by the Seventh Circuit in 2013. Noelle True also moderated a presentation on "Flagrant Violations." At the Institute, Melanie Kilpatrick conducted oral arguments before the Federal Mine Safety & Health Review Commission (and the Institute attendees) in the case McCoy Elkhorn Coal Corp. v. Secretary (KENT 2008-260, et al), and Jason Robinson, Employed by McCoy Elkhorn Coal Corp. v. Secretary (KENT 2009-1154).
